If I Ever Write a Book...

...It will be titled "How to Remodel Your House 10 Minutes at a Time". It's been a long, slow, steady process but I finally got all the trim up on the second corner of the dining room. I literally didn't spend more than 30 minutes in any one day on this. Now all that's left is some priming, the finish coats, and touch-up. Oh yeah, and then the other two corners of the dining room, and restoring all of the windows in the dining room. Now that we've hit 90 degrees I'll be highly motivated to get those windows un-stuck.

  1. Good job handling the transition to that untrimmed doorway. It looks "right" the way you've terminated the wainscotting.

And I can completely relate to your ten-minutes-at-a-time remodeling pace.

  2. Josh,

I was really worried about how to treat the end of the trim. At first I thought the trim originally stopped at the inside corner, but I discovered notches cut into the base cap moulding that showed where the vertical battens used to be. I believe I have done the same thing that the original builder did.

  3. Joe,

Now in retrospect from a few weeks later, we know that there was no rush in getting those windows open ;) When is summer going to get here??

  4. I know what you mean. This "Junuary" weather is weird. I don't mind it too much though, because when I first moved to Portland a long time ago someone told me that Summer doesn't start until the Fifth of July, so I don't expect too much sunshine until then.
